Six Types of Holland’s Typology of Personality
1. Realistic– prefers physical activities that require skill, strength and coordination.
Personality Characteristics: shy, genuin, persistent, stable, conforming, practical.
Sample Occupation: mechanic, operators, assembly-line workers, farmers, chef, engineer, architect, archeologist.
2. Investigative– prefers activities involving thinking, oraganizing, and understanding.
Personality Characteristic: analytical, original, curious, independent.
Sample Occupation: lawyer, economist, biologist, mathematician, news reporter, chemist, physicist.
3. Social– prefer activities that involve helping and developing others.
Personality Characteristics: cooperative, sociable, friendly, supporting, understanding.
Sample Occupation: social worker, teacher, manager, nurse, counselor, ppsychologist.
4. Conventional– prefers rule-regulated, orderly and unambiguious activities.
Personality Characteristics: conforming, efficient, practical, unimaginative, inflexible.
Sample Occupation: accountant, corporation managers, bank tellers, file clerks, bookkeeper.
5. Enterprising– prefers verbal activities in which there are opportunities to influence others and attain power.
Personality Characteristics: self-confident, ambitious, energetic, domineering.
Sample Occupation: lawyer, real state agents, public relations specialist, samll business managers.
6. Artistic– prefer ambiguious and unsystematic activities that allow creative expression.
Personality Characteristics: imaginative, disorderly, idealistic, emotional, impractical.
Sample Occupation: poet, musician, writer, painter, interior designer.
